The Hunter’s Fire is now 1,300 acres and 20% contained according to CAL FIRE. This Coulterville area wildfire started yesterday May 26 with a structure fire that spread to surrounding vegetation.

State fire crews responded to the smoke and flames about 3:30 p.m. The fire started near Lake McClure, off Hunters Valley Access Road in the Bear Valley.

May 27: #HuntersFire [update] near Hunters Valley Access Rd, and Bear Valley Rd (Mariposa County) is now 1300 acres and 20% contained.

The Mariposa Sheriff’s Department has ordered evacuations:

Hunter Fire burning in the Hunters Valley area of Mariposa, CA Current evacuation orders are being given for all of Hunters Valley Rd to Bear Valley Rd including Hunters Valley Access Rd and Detwiler Rd.

The evacuation center is located at 2820 Hwy 140, Cathey’s Valley, McKay Hall. There are currently no evacuations for Cotton Creek Rd at this time.

Current road closure information: Hunters Valley Rd at Bear Valley Rd & Cotton Creek Rd at Bear Valley Rd.
